Casting Spells without wand in hand
Harry in Book 4th used 'lumos' when he did not had his wand in his hands. (he was with dudley and dementors were around). It worked and tip of wand was illuminated.
If spells can be casted like this.. whats the use of Expelliarmus.??? you can always use 'accio wand', can't you?

The MOVIES are mistaken, not the story itself. The book specifies that it only worked because his finger tips were practically on his wand.
